Wedding invitation wording and print sizes that actually work

Invitation wording is easier when you decide the host line, the ceremony details, and the print size first. Then the design can stay out of the way of the names.

Invitation

Start with who is inviting

Indian wedding cards usually open with the hosts: parents, both families, or the couple. Write that line before you pick florals or colours. Guests read names first.

A simple host line, the couple’s names, the ceremony, the venue, and the date will carry a traditional or modern card. Extra blessings and poems are optional; they should never crowd the time and place.

Ceremony, reception, and what to leave off the front

If the muhurat, reception, and dinner are in different places, put the primary ceremony on the front and the rest on a second page or a smaller insert. Guests should not have to decode a paragraph to find the hall name.

Include:

  • Couple names as they should appear in print
  • Day, date, and time
  • Venue name and city
  • Dress note only if it actually helps (for example, a destination venue)

Skip QR codes that only work on one phone, and skip tiny maps that vanish in print. A short address is enough; maps belong in the WhatsApp follow-up.

Wedding invitations are not all A4. Landscape cards, square-ish formats, and classic portrait all exist in the studio. What matters is that the preview matches the PDF you will take to the printer.

Check:

  • Whether the design is portrait or landscape
  • That names still fit if one family name is long
  • That gold or maroon still reads if the printer is not a boutique press

True print ratio in the editor saves a reprint. Zooming a screenshot is not the same as a millimetre-accurate page.

Language on the printed card

English, Hindi, and Marathi can all sit on the invitation PDF. Families often print one language for elders and keep English for the digital share. Fill the card once, then switch the document language rather than retyping names.

If you also need a marriage biodata for the same match, use the same spellings and honorifics so relatives are not looking at two versions of the couple.

From wording to a template

When the host line and ceremony details are decided, browse wedding invitation templates and type into a live preview. Traditional garden and maroon evening designs still suit most Indian ceremonies; keep the type large enough for grandparents.

A good invitation is a clear sentence with beautiful margins. Get the sentence right, then let the paper do the rest.
