What a marriage biodata is for
A biodata is a short family introduction: who you are, your education and work, your parents, and the kind of match you are looking for. Relatives still print it, scan it, and forward it on WhatsApp. The document has to read well on paper and on a phone.
Keep it to one page unless you truly need a second. Families skim. A clean layout with a photo, facts, and a short note beats a long essay.
What to include (and what to skip)
Most Indian biodata documents work when they cover:
- Full name, date of birth, height, and religion or community if your family uses those fields
- Education, occupation, and city
- Parents’ names, siblings, and a line about the family
- Contact person and phone number for serious enquiries
Skip salary bragging, long hobby lists, and anything you would not say in person. If a field does not help a family decide whether to talk further, leave it out.
English, Hindi, and Marathi on the same card
Parents often want Hindi or Marathi while younger relatives read English. Print-ready templates can set the document language so names, section labels, and dates follow the script you need. The website stays in English; the PDF is what guests and families actually hold.
Use one language per printed copy if mixed scripts look crowded. You can export again in another language from the same filled-in card.
Layout that prints cleanly
Biodata is almost always portrait A4. That means:

- Section headings that survive a black-and-white office printer
- Margins that a home printer will not crop
Traditional designs (gold borders, parchment) still photograph well when relatives share a snapshot. Modern layouts read faster on screen. Either works if the type is large enough.
